Life has become very hectic for me these last few weeks and there is more to come. So I will be taking a break from blogging and scrapping for a bit in order to get things sorted out around here. I am taking a break from SPCC as well. I hope to be back real soon with new projects and great inspiration. Thank you to all my wonderful readers and I hope to be blogging soon!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day. Chris and I spent the day with his parents. We went out to lunch at a local retaurant and spent some time together. That seems to be pretty rare these days. I have been spending so much time lately learning my new job, but each day I seem to be getting a better handle on it, so hoping to be back to normal soon. I miss posting a bit more regularly.

Since it is Monday, it is time for a new color challenge at SPCC. Challenge #47 is Bermuda Bay, Close to Coca, and Creamy Caramel. The Divas did a fabulous job with the combo, so check out their work at SPCC.

Where o where has the week gone??? It is already Wednesday and I feel like I haven't been in my scrappy room in forever. Oh wait maybe that is because I have been out at the soccer fields every night. Well tonight should be my last night so I can finally get back into some scrappy grooves.

On to SPCC #46- Pixie Pink, Close to Cocoa, and Chocolate Chip.

The minute I saw these colors I just knew what photos I wanted to scrap with them. My niece Olivia had a birthday party a few years back and a little farm and all the kids dressed up as cowboys and cow girls. It was just too cute!!!

Happy Monday All! It has been a busy weekend. Chris and I have finally set a date to have our wedding ceremony! We are common law married but have wanted to have a ceremony for awhile so we finally set it for October. So we have been busy over the weekend working on plans.

Now that it is Monday it is time for SPCC #44. This week's color combo is Gable Green, Green Galore, and Dusty Durango.

I wasn't too sure about this color combo when I first saw it, but now that I finished my layout I really like how the colors came together! These are just a few of the many pics I have of my dog Killian. I sure do miss him. It has been almost 5 years since he passed but he was a wonderful doggie.

Happy Wednesday!! I know I usually post the SPCC combo on Monday, but blogger has been giving me fits lately. GRRR!! But I think it is finally all worked out. On to the color combo. SPCC #43- Yoyo Yellow, Glorious Green, and Brocade Blue. Dones't this combo just scream SPRING!!!

Well it has been a very productive day for me. I finished up two more cards and my scrap space looks pretty good!

365 Cards #38- Acrostic Poem. Well I haven't made one of these since I was a kid in school! It took awhile for me to get the wording just right, but I like what I came up with.

365 Cards #34- Color Scheme. I was doing some catch up with this one. I didn't get a chance to finish a couple of cards from last week. This is one of them. I combined it with Mojo Monday sketch #133

Still going strong on my cleaning and scrapping.

Up first is 365 Cards #37- Terrific Taggies. These taggies are super cute. I combined the card with the new If the Shoe Fits challenge #30- colors Kraft, Pastel Yellow, & Pastel Blue. Those colors just screamed baby boy card.

Second card up is 365 Cards #36- I Quilt! (a sketch challenge using a quilting pattern) At first I wasn't too sure about this card but I just love how it turned out. I inked all the edges of my quilting pieces so that they would stand out and look a bit like they were sewn.

Cleaned up more of my scrappy space. I cleared a path to the closet and have put away almost everything in front of it. I just might be able to close the closet door by the end of the day. I got all my errands done. I dropped off boxes at storage, got gas and then stopped at the Bakery Outlet. I just love that place!!! Look at how much I got for just $13!!!

Now I know it may seem silly to take a picture of all the breat I got at the Bakery Outlet, but I just couldn't help myself. I love a great deal! I should probably get all of that put away before Chris comes home and I need to get back to scrapping. Hoping to get a few more cards done today so I am almost caught up with 365 cards.

2 cards done!!

First card is 365 Cards #39 Totally Transferred- use only rub-ons to decorate card. At first I wasn't sure what to do for this card, then I remembered all the great Pink Paislee rub-ons I got last year from the warehouse box sale.

The second card is 365 Cards #40 Friday Five- 5 different patterned papers, colors, buttons, stamps, and blossoms.

As for the cleaning, laundry is done and drying, dishes are all cleaned and I even got most of the computer desk cleaned off with all the files put away. I also cleared out my scrap tote and got that put away so that is a huge thing out of the room. Now off to run a couple more errands and hopefully some more cards!!

It's been so long

It has been alomst a week since I've posted and it has been that long since I've had a chance to even step foot in my scrappy sapce to do anything scrappy related. Today I am going to give it my best effort to get caught up on projects and get my room clean (more on that later).

I finished up card #35 for 365 Cards. It is a Super Sketchy Sunday sketch card that I combined with the Stash challenge at Challenge Masters. I dug deep into my stash for this card. The paper I have had forever, probably close to 10 years. THe flowers are primas, I bought quite a while ago because I just had to have them and when have I ever needed the black flowers (never until now). The tag came with the papers as a little 8x8 paper pack kit and I had to cut down the tag to fit the card.

WARNING!! The following scrappy space photos are not for the faint of heart. Now on to the scary part. I have let my scrappy room just get way out of control. No wonder I never feel like creating in here. I can't find anything.

(There is so much stuff in front of my closet and the Accu Cut I can barely get to either one of them)

SPCC #42

I don't know what has been going on lately but I have just been so scatterbrain lately. I am blaming it on the fact that I was sick the weekend before and still haven't caught up yet but, I'm not really sure that is it. Maybe there is too much going on in my life (Nah that can't be it), but I almost forgot it was Monday and time for a new SP Color Combo. We are at combo #42 and I am just loving this combo. Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, and Basic Black! How fabulous is that????

My mom sends me pics of the family from time to time and I just have a huge stack of them waiting to be scrapped. I tend to jump around when scrapping these. So here is my mom, sister and niece at Thanksgiving 2004 in Palm Springs.

I just love the background paper, I have had it for ages just waiting for the right time to use it, then wonderful Sam came up with this color combo and Volia! thoe perfect layout for this gret paper. Now if only I could find the perfect layout for the rest of the papers I have been saving.

Okay one more quick card today! I really need to be cleaning up the house and finishing laundry but that is no fun!

Here is my card for 365 Cards #30- In Pieces (use an image on the front of the card and then only a portion of the image on the inside of the card)

I decided to go really simple with this card. Just the stamped image which I embossed and a little ribbon.

For the inside of the card, I wrote my sentiment and then stapmed and embossed just a corner of the card with part of my image.

Where does the time go?? I can't believe it is already April! Not only that Easter is tomorrow and I am not even done with cards. I did manage to get a couple more cards done for 365 Cards. Who knew trying to do all 365 cards would start off so challenging. It seems simple enough, one little card a day. It sounds so manageable but yet lately I feel like I am always behind, trying to catch up. Maybe I just need a day or two to get things organized and get all caught up so that I can start off fresh and ready.

On to the cards:

I'm not all that thrilled with this card. The adorable digi image is from Sliekje but once I started coloring it in, I just am not a great colorer. Which is strange because I love to color and draw, maybe I just need to break down and get some Copics.

1) 365 Cards #31- All Mixed Up (take an image and break into thirds, 1/3 no color, 1/3 patterned paper, 1/3 colored in)

I am much happier with this card. At least the coloring is better. I think my mistake was making the digi images so big that they took up all of the card space, which left little room for embellishing. Oh well live and learn. Next time make the images smaller for more embellishment space.

So far I have only gotten to one card for 365 Cards this week. But I did manage to combine a few challenges for the card. I'm slowly feeling my mojo slipping away this week. I think it might be time for a good spring cleaning of my scrappy space to get me reenergized.

Now on to my card. I am trying to get caught up with all the cards the hubster needs. I really think he once owned stock in Hallmark because every time I turn around he needs some more cards to send out (thank you's, birthdays, baby cards, etc) It seems like we are always having a special occasion coming up.

365 Card Catch UP

I never got a chance to post last week's 365 cards that I did. I am trying to complete all 365 cards this year so I wanted to get these posted. I am feeling a bit better, still a bit run down but okay.

So here goes all of the cards last week:

#21 Super Sketchy Sunday- I flipped the sketch on it's side and altered it a bit.

#22 Movie Monday- Alice in Wonderland (I went with a Mad Hatter Hat for my card)

#23 Stencil It- use a stencil for your card (I couldn't find any stencils in my stash so I created a stencil with my Cricut and then used silver ink to ink the image)

#24 Terrific Ten - use 10 different patterned papers

#25 Do It Yourself- create your own glittered brads (loved this challenge, I went all out glitz for this card)

#26 Card Recipe- 5x5 card, 3 circles, 2 squares, ribbon, sentiment of your choice

#27 I'm Touched - at least 8 elements that overlap with at least 2 other elements.

Well that's all of the cards from last week. I am hoping to get back into my scrappy space later this week to create cards for this week.

UGH! So I got sick over the weekend right after my crop on Saturday and have been down for the count ever since. So I did not get a chance to psot any of my cards from last week. I will have to get those posted later this week when I am feeling up to it.

SPCC #40

Happy Monday all! It is the third day of Spring and it is suppose to be beautiful here in Colorado today. Yeah!! We are up to SPCC #40 already. This week's color combo is Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, and Pretty in Pink!. As usually you do not have to use Stampin' Up colors to play along but you do need to match the colors as close as possible.

My layout did not turn out anything like I had envisioned in my head. I had originally pulled out several pieces of pp to layer on my layout but then I had an idea that I wanted a big two toned flower die cut in the background. I pulled out my Cricut and cut out my flower. As I started layering paper over it, my flower got lost so I started pulling paper away and settled on just a layered torn strip across the page.

I had pulled out Prima flowers in shades of both the Pretty in Pink and the Really Rust but as I was adding my flowers, only the Pink ones made it to the layout in a cluster at the bottom. So what initially starte out as a messy full of layers and flowers type of layout, turned into a more simplistic, clean line layout with the focus on the photo.

Challenge Masters March Go Green Challenge

Is everyone ready for the Go Green March Challenge at Challenge Masters??

Well this month we will be making Mini Albums!! Now you may be wondering what is so green about mini albums???? These mini albums are made from toilet paper rolls! Yes you heard that right TOILET PAPER ROLLS!

To start you will need about 5-7 toilet paper rolls to make your album. YOu can use as many as you want but 5-7 is usually a good number.

Flatten the rolls in half, lengthwise.

Each roll will need to be covered in your background paper. Cut the paper 5 1/2 by 6 inches (Thinner paper works well for this, the toilet paper roll will give the pages all the weight they need to stay rigid so heavy paper is not needed)

Place the flatten roll on the back side of the paper. The 5 1/2 inch side is lengthwise. Glue down the top half of the roll to the paper, leaving the bottom half unglued for now.

Fold over the left side of the paper, over the roll to cover up the opening and glue down.

Glue the exposed roll and fold the roll up onto the paper. There will be some paper hanging over the edge. tuck that extra paper under the other side of the roll (Where you left the side partially unglued) Then glue down the paper.

Stand the roll on end and fold the remaining edges down the tube and glue in place. This creates a pocket.

Now the page base for your album is complete.

On the top left corner of your page (on the side of the page that is closed) attach a large eyelet. The bigger the eyelet the better as you will be attaching the pages to a ring.

Your page is now ready to decorate! The pocket side can hold journaling notes or extra pictures or even memorabilia like tickets or such. Create as many pages as needed for your album. I like to create all of my base pages at once and then go back and decorate as needed. Once done attach all the pages to a ring (or you could use ribbon or something else to keep the pages together.) For my album I used a ring and then tied ribbon around it to cover the ring a bit.

Here is my album finished. All that is needed is some pics from my birthday last night and I will be all done!

Happy Birthday to Me!! It's my birthday so I got a little time to scrap. I finished up the rest of this week's 365 cards!

Card #14- Super Sketch Sunday (what a great sketch. I pleated some American Crafts paper instead of using ribbon on the card)

Card #15- Ad Inspired (I pulled out the blues and greens from the eggs for my card. and because Easter is just around the corner, made it an Easter card)

Card #19- Imagine This: Cotton (when I thought of cotton a big fluffy stuffed animal came to mine. I've had this teddy bear stamp in my stash forever)

Day #20- Let's Make Some Noise (my husband's boss' wife just had a baby girl so I decided to create a baby card for this challenge. I made a shaker tag box and filled it with beads and buttons)

Well I better get going, I need to get ready Chris and I are going out to Dave and Buster's to celebrate my birthday. I will be back tomorrow with my March Go Green Challenge and I promise to get the winner of the Go Green blog hop posted soon.

365 Cards 16-18

It's snowing today! Tomorrow is my birthday and the first day of spring and it is snowing:( Oh well. The week has been hectic at work so I haven't had much time to post or scrap, but I do have a few cards for 365 Cards to show off.

365 Cards #16- Opposites Attract (use 2 opposite images on card) I had no idea what I was going to do with this one until I remebered the Peanuts stickers I had in my stash, how more opposite can you get that Charlie Brown and Lucy.

365 Cards #17- Twinchies (using 2x2 inch squares to decorate) Well twinchies are way better than inchies!

365 Cards #18- Plentiful Patterns (use at least 3 of the following patterns Plaid, Paisley, Gingham, Houndstooth, Toile) I just had to use my Sizzix Paisley embossing folder. I paired it up with some plaid ribbon and toile inchie squares.

Couple more cards for 365 cards today.

This was a fun card, I went crazy with the circles on all my patterns.

And my other card is for 365 Cards #13- A Whole New Dimension (to raise up part of a paper piecing)

I used my Cricut to create my sunflower, layered it and raised the center portion. I've only had my Cricut for a few months so this is my first layering using the Cricut. Loved it!

365 Cards #9, 10, & 11

I was done with work early yestereday so I got a chance to get a bit caught up with my cards. So far the 365 Cards challenge is going well. I had hoped I would be able to post my cards daily but I don't always get to create daily so a few at a time is how it will be. Gotta get running to work soon so on to the cards.

Card #9- Song Inspired- What a Wonderful World

I have had these American Craft Felties for a while now and just thought they would make such a cute little card. And one of my best finds were these little cork alphabets! I put them on so many things, what will I ever do when I am out of them???

Card #10- Wacky Color Wednesday- Orange, Purple, & Blue

I wasn't too sure what I was going to do with this challenge other tahn I knew I wanted to use these purple sparkly Thickers. How cute are they. As I was rummaging through my stash looking for inspirations I found this Fancy Pants Overlay and how festive, I cut it down to my card size added some star brads and my Thickers and a quick, simple, fun card is done.

Card #11- Lovely Landscape- create a background on card using patterned paper (no solid backgrounds)

So this was a fun one! It reminded me of back when I first started scrapbooking and the only supplies we had were a couple of punches, some scissors and our imaginations. So that's what I did, created a cute little Easter scene with some scissors and an egg punch. I decided to free hand my grass and my basket, just cutting until I got an image I liked. My cute little chick is a stamp I picked up at Michaels (in the $1 bin). I even hand lettered my sentinment. I usually go for a stamp or some alphas but thought since I was drawing/cutting everything else, why not go for it.

Quick post with a couple of 365 cards. This week has been so busy at work. I am transitioning into my new job, so I am learning the new one and still working on the old one and trying to get everything wrapped up so my days are pretty hectic around here.

But I did manage to get cards #7 and 8 done for 365 cards.

Got a chance to use up some older kits I have lying around so that was fabulous. I have so many bits and pieces left over from kits that I am trying to work on using up the scraps on cards, layouts, and such.

Quick post for SPCC today as it has been a very long day today. Some Mondays are just more draining than others.

SPCC #38 color combo is Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, and Bashful Blue. This was such a fun combo to work with.

When I originally started this layout, I had made a cute little doggie head to go on the layout but as I was placing things, there just never seemed to be the right spot for it, so it did not make it on the layout, maybe another project.

I went all out for this card and combined a variety of challenges for this one!

365 Cards #5

Challenge #5 at 365 cards is to make a petal card. I have never made one of these before. I decided to go with a triangle card, since how often you you get to make a triangle card???

This was so much fun!!! I of course had to use my new hippo stamp. Just love that image. It's a Hero Arts stamp, the paper is Imaginisce (some leftovers from some birthday pages I recently did) and the alphas are from my stash. Gotta get a pic of card #3 and will post that one later.

I saw another card that used the ribbon pleating around the card a while back, I think it was actually on 365 cards, can't remember now where it was, but every since thne I just had to try this idea)

365 Cards challenge #4- White Space

I think my cars might be a bit big for the space allotted on the sketch, but the basic idea is there to keep all embellishments to a bottom line and the left corner. I've got a couple of little boy birthdays coming up , so thought this would make a cute card.

I haven't forgotten about card #3, but that is a tough one. Trying to decide what string art to do.

I Just Got Published!!

I am so beyond excited!! I have finally been published! I have two projects in the premier issue of In a Scrap Creations E-zine. I submitted my altered paint crate as well as a "Go Green" recycled card and both projects were accepted and have been published.

I actually turned this into a 2 page layout by mirroring the sketch for the other page. I used some great Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo line for the page. These are pics for a friend's album.

I just love 365 Cards blog. They always have such great challenges and inspiration. They just finished their very first year of cards and have started on their second year, so I thought I would challenge myself to attempt to create all 365 cards this year!!!!!

I have already asked myself if I was crazy or not, but why not shoot for the stars. Even if I don't make it, I will still have way more cards done this year than I have done in the past, so here goes with card #1.

Weekly Sketch #7

Happu Wednesday all. I have a very busy day at work today. It is a deadline day, so I wanted to get my weekly sketch up before work, just in case I was too tired after work to do it. On another positive note, I am excited to tell everyone I got offered a new job! It is a promotion of sorts, I am moving into another department but still with the City. I am going to be a director of one of the preschools. I am so very excited. I will be starting my training next week, so the coming months will be a bit hectic, but totally worth it.

On to the sketch. I went with another multi photo sketch. This one has 5 photo but could definitely be adapted for more or less. I think this one could also work as a great 2 page layout.

Since I am working on my Mom's old albums, these photos are from my 9th birthday. We were living in Hawaii at the time. My mom actually made that Holly Hobby cake for me. Does anyone still remember Holly Hobby???

You don't get a call for a pie card very often but the hubsters wants to send one to his cousin to say hi! He just loved my pie at Christmastime. So I used some scraps from an old kit from Vintage Plum and handdrew my pie as I did not have a stamp or sticker of a pie.

Lazy Saturday

It's about 3pm here and I am thoroughly enjoying my lazy Saturday afternoon. I am still in my pajamas and just spending some time in my scrap room. I have been so busy lately that I haven't had much time to participate in challenges or work on any projects, so hoping to get a few of those done this weekend.

I just completed one of the many cards on my list of cards needed. Some friends of ours just had a baby boy, so I need to send out a congrats card.

I based this card on a few challenges:

I can't believe it is time already to post my Go Green Challenge for February. The days seem to be flying by lately. This month's challenge is to make Seredipity squares and use them on a project. If you've never made seredipity squares before I have a short tutorial showing you how to make these awesome embellishments.

To start with, collect a variety of paper scraps (both cardstock and patterned paper) in one color group. For this sample I chose blue. You want a good variety of patterns to use, which make the squares look more interesting.

Next step is to tear up the scraps into pieces, you need a variety of sizes from tiny up to about a 1" piece of paper. Since you are tearing these pieces up, it's fine to use scraps you may have already punched shapes out of or cut letters out of.

Once all your pieces are torn up, grab a piece of white cardstock to adhere your pieces to. I usually use an 8 x 8 iece of paper for my squares as you can get a bunch of squares from the one paper. Randomly glue down the scraps in a random, overlapping pattern. I find glue sticks to be the best thing to use for this part. It is alright if you go over the edge of your base paper.

Make sure you cover the entire surface of the base paper. If there is any piece of torn paper that looks too big, you can always add smaller torn pieces on top. The end result is a mosiac looking piece of paper.

Now it is time to cut your paper into squares. 1-2" squares is a great size for these seredipity squares.

Once they are all cut up into squares, it is time to use them on a project. You can ink up the edges, layer them with cardstock to make them stand out, or just use them plain. You can also cut them into other shapes besides squares. If you cover them with gloss accent or a clear glue they look like mosaic tiles without the weight of the tiles.

I ended up cutting my paper into 1 1/4" squares and using them as is for my card. So pull out your scraps, make a project using some seredipity squares and get it posted over at Challenge Masters to be eligible to win a fabulous prizze this month. Only half day at work today which is definitely much needed after a long weekend tournament. For this week's sketch I went with a card sketch as my card stash is a bit lacking these days and you just never know when you might need a card or two.

I just picked up this hugs and kisses punch from Martha Stewart so I figured I would make a card with it right away. I am just loving the black, red and white color combo these days so a love card was a natural choice. And I got to use up some scrap which is a bonus!

Love Box

I meant to post this earlier, but things were just so hectic around here that I didn't get a chance to get it posted. This is the little love box I made my sweetie for Valentine's Day. I filled it with Nestle Crunch Hearts which is his favorite candy!

I had originally created this with two challenges in mind. Die Cuts R Us Love challenge (which I did not get posted in time) and the current challenge at Just Buggin which is a 3D project.

I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut cartridge for this box. The DP is GCD Studios and the black cardstock is from my stashp. The rub ons are Pink Paislee and Art Warehouse. Inks are from Studio G and Stampabilities. I actually cut out 2 boxes. The black cardstock box was my base and then I cut the same box 1/2 inch smaller out of the GCD Studios paper. I then cut apart the box pieces and inked them up, then glued them to the base box for a two toned look.

It has been a whole week since I have blogged. I am such a bad blogger!!! This past weekend was our big end of season basketball tournament which keeps me pretty busy. I had intended on pre scheduling posts throughout the week but things just crept up on me and before I knew it, there was way too much work to be done and not enough time but now the tournament is over it was a success and I am back on schedule.

Since it's Monday it is time for a new SP Color Combo. We are up to combo #35 already. It is Green Galore, Only Orange and Summer Sun. What a fabulously fun and summery combo. Which is perfect as we just got snow here and I am tired of the snow already.

i can't wait to see all of the fabulous creations with this combo. It's like a bit of summer in February. Projects are due by Monday, February 22, 12pm PST to be entered for a great prize from Sam.

It's Monday again already!!! The weeks just seem to be flying by. Probably because things are super busy at work for both Chris and I, so we hardly get much time at home together.

Because it's Monday it is time for a new SP Color Combo. This week's combo is rich razzleberry, Soft Suede, and Bermuda Bay. These are just fabulous.

Since I just got my Cricut for Christmas I have been playing around a ton with the few cartridges I do have. For this week's project I made these super cute little shopping totes!! They are just waiting to be filled with some little goodies.

I used some double sided paper from Vintage Plum for the totes so they are printed on the outside and inside.

It's Monday!!! While I am usually all gung ho at the start of the week, the day I had a work just took all the energy and spirit right out of me. I need a long hot bath and some good junk food to get me out of my ugh mmod. Maybe then I will have some Mojo to scrap. Once I do, I know exactly what I am going to work on, got some birthdays coming up and need a few cards.

It's Friday!! Here comes the weekend. Mine will be filled with basketball as it usually is this time of year, but hoping to get a bit of scrappyness done this weekend. I have my eye on a few challenges that I would like to combo. An idea is percolating in my head right now so stay tuned to see how it turns out.

On to other projects. The January Book of Him challenge at Challenge Masters is to use pink on a layout about him. Hmmm pink, how am I going to use pink on a layout about the hubsters. Then the weekely theme at Paper Popsicles is love and an idea sparked. The result??????

Happy Wednesday! For this week's sketch I went with a card sketch as I really need to replenish my card stash right about now.

I am trying to use up some of the many paper kits I have stashed around my room. The supplies I used for this card is from a Paper Popsicles kit from last June!! I still have about half of the kit left to work with. The paper is SEI Granny's Kitchen.

Sketchy Thursdays

Got a chance to play with the current Sketchy Thursday sketch. I paired it with the Photography challenge at Challenge Masters which is to make a photo mosaic. I do not have Photoshop or Elements so it was a bit tougher to create the photo mosaic, but I finally got it to work. The large photo is my mosaic. It is a bit hard to see but looks great in real life. I used a paper kit from Fancy Pants that I won a while back.

It's Monday already! during the basketball season, the weekends just seem to fly right by, usually because I am working through most of it. But on to a little color combo inspiration. This week's SP Color Combo #32 is Close to Cocoa, Basic Grey, and Creamy Caramel.

As I was starting this layout, in my mind the dominant color was going to be the Close to Cocoa and the Creamy Caramel, but the more I worked with it, the Basic Grey became my dominant color with the other two as more accents. I just love how my flower came out. It was a total accident! I was working with my Cricut to cut out these 4point square shapes in different sizes and then I accidently layered them and fell in love with the look. Then I remembers this cool looking fake-leather like large button I had in my stash and voila, my flower was complete.

Weekly Sketch #3

It's Wednesday and time for sketch #3! I am loving making these sketches. I am still trying to get the hang of getting them into the computer, but so far it is working pretty well.

For this sketch I combined it with the current Pile it On challenge to Tie it Up by use at least 3 ribbons and the Digital challenge at Challenge Masters. The digital challenge is to create a frame, overlay or mask on your photos.

For my photos, I used Picnik to turn my photos into mock Polaroids. How fun is that! I thought it would be a blast to go retro with a layout for the start of 2010. I even used old paper I had in my stash for quite a while. I must confess that I did some cleaning out of my paper stash this weekend and found papers from 1999!!! I admit that I am a Paper Hoarder! I even found some old sticker letters from Paper Adventures (is that company even still around???)

On a totally other note, I am so excited to see my Dreams layout on the Cosmo Cricket blog!!!

Cosmo Cricket Sketch

Well I just love sketches!!! So I had to play along with the sketch provided over at Cosmo Cricket. I only had 2 photos instead of 4 so I took some interpretive liberties with the sketch and made it my own!

This is me and my sis Jennifer on Christmas Eve 1982! That would be me sucking my thumb. It took my mom the longest time to break me of that habit, but she did eventually. Since this was a Cosmo Cricket sketch, I used almost exclusively all Cosmo Cricket products. (I went all over the place using items for several different lines- Girl Friday, Jitterbug, Jack's World, Be Good and Vintage Mix)The only non Cosmo products were my Zig pen and the Prism cardstock (and of course my Cricut)

Since I was using my Cricut, I added the Blade Masters Challenge from Challenge Masters to the layout. I really love how this layout turned out.

Happy Martin Luther King Day! I had the day off today so I spent most of it in my scrappy room trying to get things a bit organized and working on a few projects. It is week #31 over at SPCC and the color combo is Real Red, Apricot Appeal, and Pretty in Pink.

It is my off week but I just had to create something with this color combo because it is just so fun! The colors reminded me of a couple of papers in the American Crafts a la Carte line so I decided to go with a card for this week's creation.

I combined the SP color combo with this week's Mojo Monday sketch #122 as well as trying out this month's stamping technique (the rock and roll) at Challenge Masters.

I just love how this card came out. I am running low on birthday cards in my stash so I like to keep a few generic ones around for the times when I don't get a chance to make a custom card for a specific person.

Go Green January Challenge

I posted the Go Green challenge for January over at Challenge Masters!

This month's challenge is to repurpose something to create an organizational item. I used a pen box I got over Christmas and cut it down and turned it into a bill holder.

I used just the lid of the box, cut off the sides so that long bills could fit in it. Then I covered the whole box inside and out with some great papers from American Crafts. I used my Cricut to cut borders for the sides of the holder and topped it off with some AC Thickers for the front.

Paper Popsicles is back

I know 2 posts in one day! But I totally forgot to mention that Paper Popsicles is back!!! They closed the store and message boards back in December but they are back now!! Saturday Inspiration

It's Saturday and I am finally off work. It's been a long day at basketball games, but now I am off for two whole days. A rarity during the basketball season but much appreciated. I had wanted to post this card yesterday but by the time I got done with work it was way past my bedtime!

So now a little Valentine inspiration for Saturday.

I combined a couple of challenges for this card. The challenge over at Die Cuts R Us is to make a new creation using up leftover Christmas/Holiday paper. Well I just was not in the mood to start on new Christmas cards just yet, so I thought I would turn my creation into a Valentine's Day card. All of the papers used here are scraps of christmas paper (mostly K & Co, with the base being GCD Studios)

The second challenge is a second chance challenge over at Sketchy Thursday. I based my card layout on the sketch with a few interpretations of my own. I think I managed to get a Valentine's Day vibe with the combination of Christmas papers and those great chipboard stickers.

It's half way through the week and I am already tired. It has been a stress filled week. So on to some scrappy goodness. Sketch #2 for 2010.

And a sample layout. These are pics of me and my sister at the beach back in 1982!!! Talk about a blast from the past. I have been working on my mom's album as of late. Those great little seashells were cut on my cricut with the Stretch Your Imagination cart. I am so loving that machine. The dotted paper is from Imaginisce, its the Teacher's Pet line (isn't it versatile)

Wow look at me go two posts in one day!!! Finished up another thank you card that I wanted to share. That should do it for the thank you cards for Christmas. I combined a few challenges for this card. I just love ohw it turned out. So fun and whimsy with just a bit if sparkle.

I Love You Card

As promised, I got up this morning and photographed my card to share. I just got Chris off to work and now I have a little time to play before I run errands.

The January card challenge over at Challenge Masters is to make a Valentine's Day card using a stamp, inking, brads/pearls/rhinestones and an embellie of our choice. I also combined the current ABC card challenge which is layering.

I wanted a bit more masculine feel for the card so I added black to my red and white combo and opted for some grey metal brads over the pearls or rhinestones. For my extra embellie I went with some buttons. Then of course I layered all of my papers and even layered the stamp sentiment just a bit.

Over all I am pretty happy with the results. Hopefully Chris will love the card.

Best of Intentions

So I totally had the best of intentions to post a card I just finished for a couple of challenges. I couldn't do it yesterday because I worked late. I figured I would post as soon as I got off work today. It was really sunny today so the picture would have been fabulous.

Got home around 3pm, took off my shoes and promptly fell asleep on the couch for about an hour. Then I woke up and Chris and I started watching the second season of Chuck (just out on DVD) and before you know it, well it's almost 8pm. It's dark and not a good time for a photo. So you will all have to wait till tomorrow.

I promise to take my photo right away so I can get it posted for all to see. Maybe I will even get to scrap some more and have something else to share. Who knows. All I do know is I have to go now and finish boxing up the Christmas decorations.

What a Wednesday!

Well it has definitely been a day for me. Got up first thing and had a bunch of errands to do before work. I went to the chiropractor, got gas, dropped off recycle and then went grocery shopping. I just needed to pick up a few essentials (milk, eggs, lunch meat, fruit, just the basics) I even found organic gallon milk for 75 cents!!! Got all the way to check out got my groceries all packed up and was ready to pay when I could not find my wallet! So I had no debit card. I scrounged to see if I had enough cash after getting gas, nope. So I wrote a check, well they would not accept a check without ID. Hello... my wallet is gone!! So I had to unpack all the groceries from my reusable bags and leave them there.

Of course I did find my wallet it was in my gym bag because I worked out last night. Gotta remember to make sure I always put my wallet back! Then I had to shop all over again after work. That was a chore as it has started snowing and everyone goes shopping around here at the first sign of snow just in case it's a big storm.

But in true scrapper style I have photographed my purse, without wallet and will be using the photos for a challenge over at Challenge Masters! One of the challenges this month is to scrap about what is in your purse. In mine- Not my wallet:)

One of my goals this year is to share more of my sketches so I am going to try and post a sketch a week. So this is the very first sketch of 2010! (51 more to go)

No sooner had I put this sketch in the computer and I got some photos from my mom from their Christmas, so I rotated the photos from the sketch a bit and scrapped them based upon the sketch.

Sweet and simple layout but that's okay because there are a few less photos in my to be scrapped pile and one more layout into my albums.

So that's about all for me today. The snow is still comping down here and I am off to make some soups for dinner. What are you up to today???

Well it's Monday and it's my first official day back at work after being off for 2 whole weeks (Not really as I did have to go in a couple times to take care of a few things, but for the most part off all 2 weeks). And now it's time to get back to SP color combos. We are up to combo #29- Brilliant Blue, Melon Mambo, Rose Red, and Lavendar Lace. Fabulous combo!

When I found these fabulous sparkly chipboard Thickers in Rose Red I just knew I had to do a layout about my niece Olivia. She is definately a star!

New Thank You Card

One more Thank You card done and a few more challenges completed. I have set a goal of completing 210 projects in 2010 so this is my first official project for 2010. Only 209 more to go.

Challenges:
1) 365 Cards #304 Sounds Great- using the cover of the Glee album for inspiration (I just loved the simplicity of the album cover and of course the bright yellow, white and red color combo)
2) Just Buggin' Challenge #18- use the shadow or blackout feature on the Cricut (so excited to be participating in this challenge as Sam has some of the best ideas. I used the Opposites Attract cart which I got for Chrstimas- Thanks Cory & Monica!!)
3) If the Shoe Fits Challenge #16 - use 10 of one embellishment (used 10 little gems to underline the Thank)

I wish I had gotten some more projects done today but it just did not happen. I did manage to get most of the Christmas decorations taken down and put away and then I had to go into the office for a couple hours to get prepared for the upcoming week. So all in all it was a productive first Saturday of 2010.

It's 2010!!! I hope everyone had a great new year's eve. Chris and I stayed home, we watched GI Joe and then watched the ball drop in Times Square. It was nice to spend the night at home. In the past I have usually been working at the restaurant either serving or bartending so to be able to spend the evening just Chris and I was fabulous.

Today we went downtown to meet some of Chris' friends from college who were in town for the holidays. We got to meet their new little baby Wyatt. He is definately a cutie. We spent the day wandering around the Pavillions, catching up on things. Then it was back home to a little laundry and another movie. Chris had brought home 2 movies last night but we only got through 1. So today was Julie & Julia. Very cute movie.

On to a little scrappyness. I finished up two more thank you cards. I did manage to combine a few challenges for the cards.

The first card:
1) Mojo Monday #119 - shketch challenge
2) Dec Challenge Masters Technique- make our own patterned paper ( I made the background thank you paper, with the computer)

I am so excited! Besides being New Year's Eve, I am typing this on my brand new computer. Chris and I got it last week, but couldn't get it hooked up til last night. I am just loving it. It's a huge screen and very fast. It's Windows 7 so I have to figure out where everything is but that' okay.

So anyways, I saw this idea on a fellow scrapper's site (and for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it). A list of my favorite 9 projects of 2009. I finally found where all my files are stored on the new computer so here are my fave 9 of '09 (in no particular order)

Just wanted to share a sketch with everyone. I have been doodling quite a bit lately. My wonderful hubsters Chris stuffed my stocking with some small sketch pads so I can carry one around in my purse so I have something to draw on when I get some inspiration.

I decided to take my sketches and put them into the computer so I can share them with all of you. So here is one of the sketches I have been able to put in the computer.

And here is a layout I did based upon the sketch. One of my goals for 2010 is to share more of my sketches with everyone. So be on the lookout for more sketches in the future. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I know I did. Chris and I spent the day with his parents. We had a great brunch, then opened up gifts (so excited I got my Cricut, I love that thing!) and finally spent the rest of the day playing cards and watching movies. I actually won a few hands of card which was fabulous.

Now that the holidays are over it is back to scrapping. My first priority is to get my Thank You cards made and sent out. My goal is to play along with 365 cards all week so I have some inspiration to get my cards done. I also want to get a few more projects done for Challenge Masters before the end of the month. And finally I really need to get back to my mom's album and my friend Monica's album. I have been so busy lately with my Dec Daily and my christmas cards, the rest of the scrapping has gone by the wayside.

So on to a project. I completed card #302 at 365 cards. It is a Super Sketchy Sunday. It's a great sketch to use and made a really quick card using up a few scraps.

I went with a distressed look for the layout to match the photo. The lighting was bad when the photo was taken so I went with it and created my layout to match.

Happy Monday all! (well not really, it's Tuesday, but somehow Monday just passed me right by) It's time for a new SP color combo. This week is pumpkin pie, bordering blue, and always artichoke. These are all Stampin' Up colors but you don't have to use Stampin' Up products to participate, just use colors close to these.

For my layout I scrapped some old photos of my niece Olivia. I picked up these great feltie flowers and just knew they would be perfect for this layout. The paper is old, old, old paper from my stash. I have no idea where it came from. The borders are Crate Paper and very sparkly, the photo does not do them justice. The letters are Basic Grey.

Happy Monday All! After a rough and busy week last week, I am glad to start a new one. And what better way to start off the week than with an SP Color Combo. This week is Brocade Blue, Kraft, and Bashful Blue.

I will have to say Kraft is one of my new favorite things to create with. It is so versatile and easy to work with. It gives me a plain and simple background to work with but is a bit different from plain old white backgrounds.

For this week's color combo I created a layout based upon the current Sketchy Thursdays sketch. I pulled out some older photos from my Dad's birthday in 2001.

Let me introduce myself to you my name is Snowflake and I am Santa's Chief Elf at the North Pole. Christmas is my most favorite time of the year. It is also the most busiest. I travel with Santa when we come to Colorado to visit with all the wonderful preschool children in Aurora. I thought I would post a couple of pictures of myself so you all would know me if you happen to see me and Santa around town. We are scheduled to be coming to Aurora over the next two weeks.

Since you are here, I thought I would share a little project Melisa has been working on lately. She is making Snowman Crunch for Christmas (one of my favorite snacks by the way). She made these oh so cute little containers to hold the Snowman Crunch.

These cute little containers are made from lunch meat containers. You know those ones you get in the store that has all the different kinds of meats for your sandwiches. Melisa saves all the ones she uses throughout the year and then alters them to give out at Christmas. For these containers she uses some great Sizzix dies for the little snowmen on the side and the wording on top of the container. You could really decorate these containers just about any way you want. I bet they would hold just about any treat you would want to give away at Christmas time. You could even buy these types of containers if you needed to. I like the fact that Melisa recycles the ones she goes through during the year. We are very green up at the North Pole!

I'm Back!!!

Ugggg! My computer crashed a couple of days ago and I am just getting back online! We had to resort to an older computer a friend had (Thanks!!!!) just to get us going again. Of course this computer doesn't have all the bells and whistles I am used to. but I am up and that is all that matters. I was worried that when the computer went down I lost all my data but was able to recover it. So if you haven't backed up your computer lately DO IT NOW!!!! You never know when your computer will decide to stop working.

So since I haven't been online for a few days I have had plenty of time to get some scrapping done. I wanted to share a Christmas Layout I just finished.

I combined the new prompt at All About Me with the current Pagemaps sketch contest and think it came out pretty well!

All About Me's prompt #7 is all about processing the holidays, what memories are your favorites or traditions or anything that makes the holiday season for you. For me it is all about the tree! My Chrsitams season doesn't officially begin until my tree is all set up.

As for Pagemaps, I just love Becky's sketches and this one was perfect for my layout!

It's Monday and time for a new SP color combo. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. This week's combo is Lavender Lace, Real Red, and Whisper White. It is a very stand out combo. I just love these colors together.

For my project this week, I altered a tin I got from Michael's to give to my niece with a gift card in it for Christmas. Aren't these colors great!!

I finsihed up a Christmas card yesterday for combination of challenges. I don't typically do round cards, but this one turned out pretty well and it was fun to create.

The base is a 3" circle die cut so the card is about 3 1/4" when done. I combined the following challenges:
1. SPCC #24- color combo- bashful blue, real red, and certainly celery ( I already made a layout for this week's challenge but the color combo was so much fun to work with, I decided to use the combo for this card.)
2. The Pink Elephant #41 - sketch challenge
3. I'm a Big Shot Challenge #3- embossing on your diecuts
4. Challenge Masters Nov Card challenge- make a round card, with a christmas theme and using the color blue.

A couple of cards

Happy Friday everyone. It has been a tough, long week at work, but the weekend is finally here. Of course now it's snowing. Yesterday it was in the mid 70's and today it barely got to 40 degrees. Go figure, but that is part of the joy of living in Colorado, you never know what the weather is going to do.

I managed to finish a couple of cards this week. The first one is based upon this week's color combo over at SPCC. I was just loving this week's combo and since I hadn't made a project with them yet, I thought I would make a birthday card for a friend. This week's colors are Melon Mambo, Basic Black, YoYo Yellow and Not Quite Navy.

I combined the color combo with 365's Challenge #253 super sketchy Sunday and I threw in ABC challenge H is for hidden. The card was definately a bit of a challenge for me as I don't typically do tall cards and for some reason I have never made a tri-fold card.

I really like how the card came out! The giant bracket is a Cosmo Cricket sticker and once I saw it, I just knew I wanted to shape the flap of my card to match the bracket. To shake things up a bit I decided to use two different alpha stickers for the hidden sentiment. And of course the outside band for the card just wouldn't be complete with out a Prima flower on top!

As for my second card, I took on 365's challenge #254 I'm Hung Up. The challenge was to make a card that is also an ornament. I just got this great Sizzix snowflake die that I have been dying to try out. I think it makes a pretty cute card and ornament. Not a whole lot of room for writing but that's okay. I had a bit of leftover Imaginisce paper for the outside of the card. I just love the Polar Expressions line from Imaginisce.

Well I hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend. I had better go and finish fixing dinner. It's Swiss chicken tonight. YUM!

Well it's not Monday but it is Mojolicious! I just finished my card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I combined it with the color challenge over at Challenge Masters! The colors are pink, blue, green and brown. When I saw the Pink Paislee paper in my scrap stash, I knew it would be perfect for the color challenge and a great background for the mojo sketch.

The blog hop theme is Free to be Me!! What an awesome theme. I know that I tend to get lost in scrapping for others and about others that sometimes it looks as if I am not even present in my albums. I am usually the one behind the camera, but it is so very important to me to make sure that future generations know that I was here and that I left my mark, even if in a small way somewhere on this world.

The current challenge at AAM is up and the topic is: I can’t live without _____. For me that is my friends. Living so far away from my family is tough, but it is my friends that are my extended family. They are the ones that have gotten me through many difficult times and are always there for me. Even now that Chris and I are married, it is still our friends that play such a big part in our lives.

(Supplies: all supplies are Sassafras except for grey cardstock-Bazzill, pen- Micron, & small alpha letters- Basic Grey)

In order for everyone who is hopping along with us, to get to know all of us Design Team members and guest designers better, we have a little questionnaire:

1. My childhood ambition: To be a teacher
2. My retreat: to the couch, curled up with a blanket either watching mindless tv so I don’t have to think or reading a good book.
3. The perfect day: spending time with Chris with nothing planned for the day
4. My first job was: Working for my grandparents in their printing shop. My first outside of the family job was working at a movie theater
5. My wildest dream: to be professional scrapbook designer
6. If my life was a musical it would be called: 36 hours in a 24 hour day
7. My proudest moment: graduating with my master’s degree
8. My favorite item of clothing: Jeans
9. I feel ready for the day when I: get showered and dresses
10. I COULD live without: BILLS!!!

SPCC #22

Happy Monday all. It is back to work. It is also time for a new SPCC challenge. We are up to challenge #22. This week is Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, Creamy Caramel, and Dusty Durango.

For my example, I had to scrap some photos for my friend's album. They got a new puppy named Sadie. She is such a cutie! And the colors were perfect for these photos.

November Challenge Masters

Hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween. I know I did. I went over to a friend's house for a get together. We took all the kids to the mall to trick or treat in the afternoon, which was so totally crowded and not really worth it because it was so busy. The after dinner the kids went out again in the neighborhood (actually they went out twice in the neighborhood, once with the moms down one street and once with the dads down another street). Going out trick or treating with toddlers is just so fun, the kids are always just so excited.

Since I don't have any kids, my role was official photographer for the event. After all the trick or treating it was time for the adults to have some fun, playing cards, having a little wine and just being able to hang out together. It's not as easy as it use to be for all of us to hang out anymore. So how was everyone else's Halloween?? Any good candy leftover??

Now that it is November 1, all of the challenges are up over at Ch{all}enge Masters. I am on the Recipe challenge team. This month's challenge:

So excited to announce that I am a design team member for Ch{all}enge Masters!! I am a member of their recipe challenge team. There are 15 different challenge teams in all. Each month 15 different challenges will be posted with a wonderful prize going to the month's Challenge Master.
